Have you ever purchased a lottery ticket? This evening’s record-shattering 1.5 jackpot announcement I believe will have many eyes watching. Or perhaps some of us may be sleeping…either way, I can honestly say, the most interesting part of my day is when I asked my son if he ‘knew’ what it meant to win the lottery? His response is one I will surely treasure, as he admitted how he would spend his winnings if he ever won. From what I understand, there are many many scriptures regarding ‘money’ in the Bible. More than many would like to acknowledge. But what if you won a financial windfall, a lottery of sorts? How would you process your winnings? Essentially, all we own and everything we have belongs to Him. As King David prayed, ‘Everything comes from you.’ (1 Chronicles 29:14). And with this in mind, are we to change our mindset should our pockets be overflowing? Should giving continue on a generous level with a cheerful heart? My hope in sharing is that the more in which has been poured out to us, may we give freely and generously. Even if the Powerball numbers do not align or we do not receive an abundance of earthly treasures, His wealth and His love far exceeds anything we could ever think or imagine.
Matthew 16:26 “What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul.”
