Have you ever looked at someone and knew they were on the same page as you? This evening, a woman saw me ‘correct’ my child and nodded at me in agreement. Often times we hear others say, ‘it takes a villiage to raise up a child.’ My villiage also includes those standing near me who also hear and understand. Child rearing can be one of the most challenging tasks, and every time I think I’ve achieved some kind of parent medal, not long after, I’m on my knees searching for guidance from the One who created my children to begin with. Why is parenting SO challenging at times? Perhaps we see a mirror of what our own weaknesses are or realize their young ears and eyes are literally watching us ‘all’ the time. Either way, for some who are just trying to stay above water, please know, you are not alone. And for the mother who drove her children to school running on empty, our children do not have a gauge when our tank is full. Their outbursts or tears usually strike when least expected, and their fingers cling to our back needing a hug when we may not see it coming. May we all encourage one another in parenting. Even a slight nod or a smile will benefit a parent who feels like a volcano. Knowing an eruption is near, but trusting the One who helped make the children possible.
Proverbs 29:17 Discipline your son, and he will give you rest; he will give delight to your heart.
