January 17, 2016 : Forgiveness

Have you ever had a child appear out of the blue to ask for forgiveness? This evening, my son approached me with tears in his eyes sharing that he was sorry… I gave him a hug and understood he was needing confirmation that I had received his apology. With tears in his eyes, I could see he was truly sorry. And saying ‘I’m sorry’ is not the easiest conversation to have. The reason I share is we all need to extend grace to those who have made mistakes. And many particularly enjoy added drama or taking offense. But is it worth it? We can read our Bible and judge our neighbor is exactly what I am pinpointing here. For the individual who entertains gossip or idle talk, please know, at the end of the day, it leads to shallow waters. Nothing gained comes from it, and many can share it leaves most feeling dry and weary. For a disciple is known by their love. And knowing ‘who’ our Lord is changes how we see and act around others. How do I know? I can share I have experienced these dry valleys for most of my life. Having a relationship with Christ, pressing into Him for help has given me great comfort when trials come along side me. Even if it is a young child who admits his faults can we see our own walk as a reflection of ‘who’ He is.😊

1 John 7-8                                                                                                                                                                                                                “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.”
